After School Activities

In keeping with ISA’s Mission Statement and Objectives, we offer an after-school activities program so students may develop their skills and talents in areas not covered by our academic program.  Each teacher is responsible for sponsoring an after-school activity during two different quarters each year. These offerings vary according to student interest. Parents are also welcomed to assist or to offer an activity.

Activities offered during the 2010-2011 school year include: house sports & competitions, arts and crafts, drama, basic beading, Model United Nations, basic sewing, sports for youngsters, board games, Pilates for kids, movie club, open art studio, library / extra research time, Dutch CITO exam prep for grades 5 & 6, reading Dutch children’s books, glockenspiel, poetry & creative writing, piano lessons, CPR class for students, staff and parents, beading & jewelry making, elementary book club, using Microsoft Office Outlook to fine-tune your life, and three-dimensional drawing.

These activities are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons for students in grades 1-12.  A walk around the campus after school provides the gratifying sight of some students receiving academic support, others learning a new skill or hobby, and still others actively participate in healthy sports. Teachers and students are engaged in the pleasure of learning.
