Taekwondo apprentices were ready to kick some butts on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at the Tang Soo Do tournament. The event was hosted by our very own Mr. Richard, the 3rd grade teacher. Competitors traveled the globe to attend the convention from countries such as Puerto Rico, New York, Connecticut, and California. The judges of the competition were black belt masters, who also competed in their own division.
Our ISA Eagles competed to their best potential, raking in several gold medals after only two years of training. They weren't the only ones to participate at the event; our Key Club members also contributed in making this event a success. They had jobs such as: keeping track of the scores, announcing winners, singing the National Anthem, and serving the judges.
But the competitors had the real jobs. There were three assignments the competitors had to perform; the fighting form, the weapons form, and fighting with other competitors - also known as sparring. After completing each form, judges would give them their scores. Then the two competitors who had the highest ranking would go against each other. In the end, everyone walked away with a beautiful medal; even the volunteers! We would like to dedicate this article to Mr. Richard for all his hard work and making the event a great one!
