Student Dress Code 

To maintain a cohesive academic environment, the International School of Aruba has adopted standards for student dress.  All students are required to maintain a neat and clean appearance throughout the school day.  Articles of clothing conforming to these minimum standards may be obtained from Impex N.V.

Student Dress – Appropriate:

    • White or blue, short-sleeved polo shirts with the ISA logo for Middle & High School. T-Shirts with the ISA Logo allowed for Elementary Students only.
  • Khaki, black or navy blue dress shorts, pants, skorts
  • Skorts and shorts for all grades must fall no higher than 6.5 cm or 2.5  inches above the knee
      • All pants, skorts and shorts must be worn no lower than the top of the hipbones
  • ISA sweatshirts can be worn over the polo shirt.  ISA sweatshirts may also be carried or tied around the shoulders or waist
    • Closed shoes of any color may be worn
    • Sneakers of any color may be worn
    • Ear piercings are permitted

Student Dress – Inappropriate:

  • ISA t-shirts are only appropriate for physical education in the Middle & High School
  • Student clothing must not bear any type of provocative or inappropriate language or symbols
  • Jeans or denim materials are not permitted
  • Sports shorts or sweatpants are not permitted
  • Skorts, shorts and shirts  must not be too tight or revealing
  • Caps, hats, and sunglasses must be removed BEFORE entering the building; if worn inside, they will be confiscated
  • No skirts for grades 6 -12
  • Body piercings are not permitted on visible body parts (i.e. tongue, eyebrows, lips, etc.)
  • Streaked or colored hair (i.e. blue, green, un-natural colors) and no “extreme” hair-do fashion or style, cut or shape are allowed
  • Excessive or offensive jewelry is not acceptable

Student Dress – Physical Education
Students must change into appropriate PE clothes for PE class.

    • official school t-shirt
    • closed footwear worn must be sneakers/tennis shoes and socks
    • athletic shorts of acceptable length

Student Dress – Field Trips
Students will be required to wear an ISA white polo logo shirt with khaki, black or navy blue shorts, pants or skorts for official school functions and field trips.  Even if there is a free dress day and students are attending a field trip, unless otherwise stipulated, they must still be in the official school uniform; otherwise the students may be required to stay at school.

Student Dress – Free Dress Days

    • students must wear clothing appropriate for a school setting
    • jeans are allowed if they are neat and clean, not frayed, ripped or grafittied
    • beachwear-type of clothing is not permitted and this includes:
  • rubber thong sandals or slippers
  • short shorts or skirts
  • clothes that are too tight
  • halter-type tops, tops with bare shoulders, low cut blouses, bare midriffs
  • exposed underwear
  • clothing with provocative or inappropriate language or symbols

*Free dress day will be given to classes with no more than three (3) infractions in a month.

Student Dress – Senior Privilege
Seniors are allowed the privilege of free dress on Fridays except when they have a field trip. Jeans are allowed if they are neat and clean, not frayed, ripped or grafittied.  If abused, the privilege may be modified or taken away.

*One senior free dress day will be taken away with three (3) infractions
