    Program Description

    The Montessori program is a safe, fun, interactive learning environment for three to six year old children. This program is organized by a head teacher and one assistant. The head teacher is Montessori trained and educated. The ideas of freedom and independence lie at the core of the Montessori philosophy. Children are at liberty to choose their work, to express themselves, to move about the classroom, to work at their own pace. These experiences at choice making strengthen the child's sense of self worth, dignity, and personality. The goal of such liberty is to encourage an active, independent and self-directed attitude towards learning.

     

    The three year olds attend classes for a half day from 7:45 – 12:15. The same activities and programs will be followed as the full day students. Students must be potty trained to be ready to join the half day program.

     

    The four and five year olds are eligible for the full day program, which runs from 7:45 – 2:45. The tentative program schedule is as follows:

    Special classes are provided for languages, art, music, library and computer. Parents who are interested in the program must fill out an application for their child. A classroom visit and tour can be arranged upon request once an application has been made. The Montessori program has set limit of students for the class. Once the limit has been reached, a waiting list will be kept. A detailed Montessori handbook is available upon acceptance into the program.
