Dear Students and Parents
Welcome to the 2009 - 2010 school year at the International School of Aruba. To “newcomers”, I extend a special hello and welcome. We have many programs that will challenge and support students and parents. I encourage everyone in the community to take advantage of opportunities to learn and grow. ISA is a great community where we pull together for the benefit of all.
You will see some changes this year in the way we do “business” at ISA. The high school students will be meeting in “Town Hall” each morning where they will learn about the day to come as well as share talents and successes. The middle school will have a new advisory period dedicated to supporting our middle school students through grades 6, 7 and 8 as they prepare for high school. We have eliminated guided study providing more time dedicated to our world language classes. Each student this year will be in a house and will have the opportunity to participate in various sports and academic events throughout the year. These are just a few of the modifications that we believe will enhance our program. Keep an eye out for the Breeze Courier, our weekly newsletter, for information and schedules of events and activities.
Along with these new programs and opportunities, we will continue to focus on raising our academic standards to prepare students for the challenges ahead. We remain committed to the three R’s. Respect, responsibility and reason must continue to be considered daily in everything we do. Making good choices and being accountable for ones choices are all part of our education.
Each year we review this handbook in the search for ways to better inform and clarify. Please familiarize yourself with the contents and feel free to share suggestions for further improvement.
I am excited about this year and look forward to seeing you all.
